There is an unadvertised price reduction on fares between New York City and San Juan, PR. You can now get a round-trip ticket for $185 including taxes! You can find a calendar of fares on Fly.com here. The best fares seem to be in May and early June. Most of the dates I checked were coming up at $245 which is still a great deal.
I love Puerto Rico. I lived there for a year and a half in my early twenties. Here are my posts on some of my recommendations for Puerto Rico. Also if you’re looking for a more secluded Puertican vacation, consider visiting one of the smaller islands of Puerto Rico – Culebra and Vieques. Feel free to send me any questions you might have on Puerto Rico.

My mother’s ancestry is 100% Polish. My parents are thinking about taking a trip to Poland in the next year or two, so I’m always on the lookout for tickets to Poland or an airport close to Poland. I found a thread on Flyertalk about flights between JFK and Warsaw, routing through Canadian cities for as low as $303 round-trip (including taxes/fees). People have also had luck with BOS, DCA, ATL and LAX. (Note: when they reference the Big O, they are talking about Orbitz.) The flights are on Delta. The travel dates that seem to be working are from November (including over Thanksgiving) through March timeframe. Most of the routes go through Monteal, Toronto, or Vancouver and then Amsterdam on to Warsaw. I did a search on several dates and was able to confirm that the prices are still available.
This is a great, cheap way to get butt in seat (EQM) miles while going on a wonderful trip. You want to look for these flights using the multi-city search. If you need someone to walk you through how to search for these flights, let me know.
I was perusing Flyertalk today and came across an awesome deal on flights between Los Angeles or San Francisco and Costa Rica on American Airlines. You can find round-trip fares for under $300. You can find all the details using this link. This is about half to one third the cost of other airlines. And it’s a very low cost/mile flight so it will help bump up your EQM (butt in seat miles).
UPDATE: The deal is also good out of LGA and DFW.
AirTran is running a similar sale to Southwest’s 40th anniversary sale. You have to book by June 23 and travel between August 23 and November 16. Same details as Southwest, one-way fares for:
- $40 for 0 – 450 miles
- $80 for 451 – 1250 miles
- $120 for 1251+ miles
* The above amounts do not include taxes and fees.
